Located in southeastern Utah, four hours from Las Vegas, this is a special program for geology lovers. Bryce Canyon National Park may surprise you, starting with its name, which mistakenly has “Canyon” in it. The funny thing is that the place is actually a reserve with an extensive desert plateau formed by erosion throughout its life, far from being an area of great mountains.
But don’t be disappointed, there is plenty of beauty to be found there. The park presents a show of nature with more than 100 species of birds and more than a thousand types of plants. Amidst a forest of stones, with reddish rocks that form a labyrinth between the limestone immensity of the place, you will easily get lost in this fascinating reserve.

And if the terrestrial part impresses when it leaves the ground, other elements come into play and attract tourists from all over the world. One of the main reasons for this is the quality of the air in Bryce Canyon, which is considered one of the best places to breathe in the world.
Another spectacle that this area offers, apart from the rocks, is the light show at night. We’re not talking about artificial light, but a unique and privileged view of the sky, with a view of more than 7,500 stars. Precisely because of this air quality (no pollution), coupled with the lack of major light sources nearby, the sky stands out, giving a unique view of our galaxy.
It is precisely this fame that makes researchers from all over the map visit the place to find out more about the constellations that make up our Milky Way. Of course, just as the sun rises for everyone, so does the moon, so you don’t have to be a professional to enjoy this view. Unraveling
Walk
As you well know, one of the best ways to get to know every bit of a place like this is on foot, so that no detail is missed, and the contact with nature is much greater. For this, Bryce Canyon offers a number of trail options, the three categories of difficulty are classified as: Easy, Moderate and Difficult.
To make the best choice, take into account your physical condition and the levels of difficulty, which are usually measured by the intensity of the steepest climbs and walking time.
Valid tips: wear proper hiking boots, take 1 to 3 liters of water and make sure you apply sunscreen.
Horseback riding
Horseback riding is also one of the most popular options for those who want to save their feet and knees from the uneven paths. The advice here is to try to wear comfortable but not thin pants, if you don’t want to face a big pain in your bum the next day. The horse’s “trot” can make your spine “hurt” if you don’t stretch beforehand, and stocking up on water is also valid, even if it’s not a long walk.
Camping
For camping enthusiasts, this is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. With two campgrounds, Bryce Canyon offers restrooms with toilets and drinking water. During the summer months, the laundry and shower facilities are coin-operated. But be aware that the resorts are closed during the winter due to the freezing temperatures.
NOTE: Animals are not allowed indoors, on trails or in unpaved areas of the park. Therefore, the main areas of access with your pet are at campsites and parking lots, always wearing a leash!
Learning
More than just providing moments of beauty, the work being carried out by the park is to raise awareness about Bryce Canyon. So if you want to round off your day in the park, you can take part in activities aimed at getting to know the place.
Learn the technical names of the rocks, the reason for their reddish color, the main foods of the region’s wild animals, and you can also learn more about their recorded cultural history.
As the park aims to entertain all ages, there are different types of groups and themes, separated by interest and, of course, age. As a result, the children’s group has privileged attention, with guides who have met the challenge of passing on the right content to the little trailblazers.
